OF THE WINERY
The Etyeki Kúria Winery was founded on the Öreghegy (meaning Old Hill) of Etyek in 1996. From the very beginning, the winery was known for both respecting traditions and adopting an innovative mindset. The winery was the very first one to plant Pinot Noir grape in the wine region of Etyek–Buda, and the wine prepared from this grape won many world-class awards for the winery.
The head winemaker, Sándor Mérész, joined the winery ten years ago. Since then, he has been shaping the unique style of their wines, aligning local experiences with the latest research findings and his international approach. In recognition of his professional work, Sándor has been one of the fifty nominees for the “Winemakers’ Winemaker” award in Hungary every year since 2013...
Pinot Noir, with its typical pale ruby colour, is one of the fashionable red burgundy grape varieties and the 10th most planted grape variety in the world - capable of producing divinely scented, gorgeously fruity expressions.
